What is the G43 code for CNC? ›

"G43" refers to a specific code used in CNC programming for machining operations. In CNC machining, G43 is the code used to apply a tool length offset. This code is crucial for accurate machining and ensuring that the machine correctly compensates for the length of the tool being used.

G10 - Setting the datum

0 Z50. 0; The G10 command is used to tell the machine the distance to the work datum position from the machine datum. The 'P' word defines the working datum this position refers to and is listed below.

Program G20 to use inches for length units. Program G21 to use millimetres. It is usually a good idea to program either G20 or G21 near the beginning of a program before any motion occurs, and not to use either one anywhere else in the program.

The “R” parameter is mostly used in the G-code to specify the radius of the circle that you are cutting. Or the reference radius of the a corner. It is an optional variable in the G-code. An example of which for milling a corner radius would be: G02 X2.25 Y.5OO R.75.

2 G91: Incremental Mode

This means that every coordinate you enter is a relative change in the direction of the axes. For example, if you program G91 X10 Y10 Z10, the machine will move 10 units in the positive direction of each axis from where it is.

G76 is the automatic cycle for threading. Remember, the name of these automatic cycles in CNC codes is Canned Cycles. K = radial thread height = (D – d) divided by 2. [K needs a radial value.

The G Codes G98 and G99 are used to lift the cutter to different heights during a canned cycle on a CNC milling machine. On lathes, these G Codes are used to set the feed rate mode, so this lesson concentrates on programming a CNC mill.

G01 - Linear Interpolation

A G01 command is used when you are cutting in a straight line. This command has to have a feed rate (F) active before it will run.

F values. The F values stand for feed rate, but in essence, mean the speed at which the extruder is traveling. F values are in terms of mm/min, so just divide by 60 to get mm/s (Ex: F300 = 5mm/s). There are two types of speed: travel and print. Travel speed is how fast the extruder moves while not extruding.

G42 code will enable the right compensation to the right of the tool path. If the G codes have a D number code associated with it that follows the G code, the offset will use the diameter. The D number tells the machine which tool to use, and the CNC machine control calculates the offset using the tool's diameter.

G44 is the alternative to G43. It tells the machine to apply tool length compensation by subtracting the current length offset from all positions. This alternative is rarely seen in practice.

G02 and G03 Circular Motion are modes for the CNC Machine. G02 establishes a mode for clockwise circular arcs. G03 establishes a mode for counter-clockwise circular arcs. Like the G01 command, G02 and G03 require a feed rate (F).

Function G40 is used to cancel cutter radius compensation initiated by G41 or G42. It should be programmed after the cut using the compensation is completed by moving away from the finished part in a linear (G01) or rapid traverse (G00) move by at least the radius of the tool.
